I got a note from someone on LinkedIn who was interested -- I had a quick chat with someone and set up another call with, I think, the head of the department. That was a more traditional phone interview. From there, I interviewed for one position (not really one I was interested in) and had the family lunch with that group, but they essentially discerned my non-interest and referred me back to the role I was initially interested in. Had good group and one-on-one interviews with that set of folks, and was invited back to one of their after work events. Had fun there, talked with folks, and it was mutually decided that, since I was about to go into our busier season at my current place of employment, we would pick up about a month later where we left off. I think I was kind of dumb to expect that to really be the case. I emailed back on the stated date and was told that they'd essentially decided to shift what their focus was for new hires and as such there was no need for me. Incredibly disappointing, and after so many interviews and phone calls, it was a bit anticlimactic. It's probably partly my fault for being so okay with just taking a break in favor of my current company.
