The initial phone conversation was a great introduction. The recruiter was helpful in answering some basic questions about the role, benefits, pay etc. This was a great opportunity to confirm that a formal interview would be merited based off of what the company is looking for and what I as the applicant was seeking. The formal interview took place in Dallas, TX. The process took approximately 3 hours. The morning started with a 30 min presentation on everything from the company’s background, work schedules and general day to day activities, to pay and benefit structures. The next step was a short sim session to assess your basic competency and decision making. The last step was a panel interview. The questions were very character based. They seemed very interested in more personality traits rather than technical knowledge (which I assume was assessed during the sim portion). Overall a very pleasant experience. They really went the extra mile to make everyone feel informed, and understanding of the expectations and benefits of working for the company.

Arrived at CAE at the DFW Airport in a group of 7 candidates. The day started with a presentation about the company, then we were brought in groups of two to the full-motion Lear 45 sim. Did a normal takeoff and climb to 3000 feet, then vectored for an ILS to landing. That was followed by a V1 cut to wrap up the sim eval. The whole thing lasted about 15 minutes. It had to be hand flown, but with the help (or hinderance) of the flight director. The guys running the sim were not too familiar with the Lear 45, so couldn't quite get the vertical guidance right. So the flight director was valid for heading, but not pitch... pretty distracting. The sim eval was followed by an HR-type interview with a couple pilots. Standard TMAAT questions.
