Started with the group interview, what to expect. Face to face with the LSM (Safety manager). Detailed DOT backround investigation. During this time, you start training. The trainers are skilled to "interview" you as the training goes on. They can and will stop your training if your not FS material. Class training was 4.5 weeks. CPR and First Aid class. You have to take a DOT physical and drug test. Then you have to take a CHP written exam,100 questions. If you pass that you go onto the DMV. You must learn bus inspections, Class C, air brakes, Commercial and passanger skills. The DMV exams for the previous list. You get 3 chances, if you fail any 1 of the 5, you fail and have to take the failed exams again. Which count as a try. Then If you pass that, you can start behind the wheel training. You learn everything you need to know. After driving aprox. 35 hours behind the wheel with a deligated trainer and learning the "pre trip" inspection you take a "behind the wheel" driving test with a CHP officer. He is fair but firm! He listens, watches and test you on EVERYTHING! You have 4 parts to this test. Office exam, simple. Pre-trip, you can miss 3 things during this part. Brake test, which is where most fail. And the actual driving exam with him on the bus directing and questioning you. When you pass all this, you are given your license. Then you go in and your hired with the company. (thats the easy part)
