      Entretien

Supplemental application to weed out people who aren't detail oriented (that seems more important than experience on FedEx computer systems). Panel interview where three managers/HR people ask sets of questions that range from "How do you attach a file to an email?" to "Talk about a time where you had to get a coworker to do something?" They essentially want to know if you can get the couriers to do what you need them to do to get the job done every day. Can you confront them if they don't want to get a pickup? Will they trust that what you're asking them to do is in the company's best interest? Can you manage couriers who maybe once were your friends back at the station? They may ask if you know what a PM 195 report is and how you use it as a dispatcher. This is an important tool so you better know it. Know the difference between Excel and Word. The job is quite detail oriented so make sure you answer the questions is such a way that you prove that you are just that.

Supplemental applications are used to determine who gets an interview. It isn't strictly seniority. The more FedEx computer systems you have knowledge of the better. The interview asks a lot of questions that pertain to station and courier ops but most are really just common sense but phrased to include the lingo. Besides being a phone interview, it was also a panel interview. It feels strange to speak and have them be writing your answers but once you get the rhythm of it it becomes easier. When answering make sure you include your past experience. For example say something like 'when I was a handler I had to run the versus reports and make corrections so I can use that skill to interpret the onroad productivity reports.' Just as long as you also mention that you communicate, communicate, communicate. Try to use that in each answer as well. Most of the questions were of the 'tell us about a time you...' variety.

      Questions d'entretien [2]

      Question 1

If your manager or other visitor, a courier on the road and a phone caller all needed your attention at the same time, how do you prioritize them and why?

      Question 2

Questions were asked that were job-specific to being a dispatcher. One was asking for the definition of a non-productive stop and how you determine the status and what you do about it.
