Entretien pour Senior User Experience Researcher (Quantitative)

      22 mars 2018
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Londres, Angleterre
      Aucune offre
      Expérience négative
      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via une autre source. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez FARFETCH (Londres, Angleterre) en févr. 2018

      Entretien

I did not apply for the position, but I was contacted directly by the company. It was a four-stage process consisted of a telephone conversation and three interviews. The first two stages (telephone and first formal interview) ran overall smoothly but consisted mostly of informal discussions rather than of formal interview questions. For the second formal interview, I was given a task to do for which I spent three days preparing. The task required me to present a UX story based on a dataset the company provided. As the quality of the dataset was low, the task was not easy, but I was able to complete it. A few days before the second formal interview I accepted another job offer, but as I had done the task already, I thought I should give Farfetch a try. I am so glad I accepted the other job offer, as the second formal Interview with Farfetch was a total catastrophe. The interview itself was utterly unorganised and chaotic (e.g., they did not even properly inform me about the structure of the interview). The high standards they claim they have is simply a "catch-phrase" for unsuspected people. I was interviewed by a team of three people (with no seniority) which was led by a young marketing professional. Don’t even bother asking why a marketing professional would lead an interview for a Senior UX Research position. The lead interviewer had no clue what the task was about, he had never seen the provided dataset before, he knew nothing about my CV but yet he was allowed to lead the session. Also, none of the panel team members had checked my data analysis, neither they asked after the interview to check any of my analysis. When I received the feedback, I was shocked. Perhaps one of the biggest surprises was when I found that without any shred of solid evidence they were confident that some of the analysis was not right. Their only reasoning was that some of the analysis did not LOOK right. It does not matter if they had no evidence to support their claim, or that I was analysing a subset of the company’s data, or even that I was given the freedom to make any assumptions I wanted for the analysis. In their mindset, it did not look right, so it was not right, period. The feedback also included other comments that made absolutely no sense. I tried to “translate” some of the comments in plain English for this review, but it was impossible. They are gibberish comments with no information about what, where and why the analysis had problems. It feels like a group of 9-year-olds wrote the feedback and it makes sense only to them. This interview was the worse waste of time in my entire life and this feeling has nothing to do with the negative outcome. I had already accepted another offer, and I was not interested in progressing further. However, as they insisted on interviewing me, they should have had the decency to provide constructive feedback and not to insult me by sending this trashy comments. Unfortunately, there is no way to demand a formal apology from the company. Hence, all I can do is to warn people to stay away from this position. I would urge people not to apply for the position neither to be tempted to go for an interview if you will be contacted directly by the company. There are much better companies in London with UX departments staffed by proper UX researchers.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

There was no structure in the interview. I was asked all sorts of questions related to my task.
