      Entretien pour Manager, SEO

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Etsy en janv. 2023

      Entretien

I had a phone screening with a recruiter in December 2022 and received a rejection email three weeks later. About two weeks after that, I received an email from the same recruiter indicating I was rejected by mistake and she asked if I was still interested in the role. She also stated that she wanted to set up an interview with the hiring manager. I replied telling her I was still interested and an interview was set up the next day - but it wasn't with the hiring manager, as indicated originally. Instead, an interview was set up with a team member - the Senior Manager, SEO. I checked the interviewer's LinkedIn before the interview and discovered he had about 10 years less SEO experience than I have and was also about 10 years younger than me according to his college graduation date. Not a big deal, but I was confused as to why I wasn't meeting with the hiring manager - the Head of SEO - first as originally planned. The guy who interviewed me didn't smile once and almost seemed annoyed to be interviewing me. Right away when he logged in to the video call he said "I have a list of questions to ask you so let's get started" without introducing himself. He was wearing a beanie and slouching in his chair during the interview. His lack of attention/interest in my answers made me uncomfortable and it was obvious he did not plan to recommend me to move forward in the interview process. At one point he said in a snotty tone "I've never even heard of any of the companies you've worked at" which I found a little ridiculous - and rude - since at least two of the companies are very well-known, one of them is owned by a popular actor who stars in all our commercials. I'm guessing this white, young male was an internal referral because he acted entitled. To top it off, his knowledge of SEO was not at all impressive. What's worse is that this person was chosen to decide if I was worthy of a second interview. I received a second rejection email about two weeks later and wasn't surprised. The entire process just gave me a bad impression of Etsy - a website I've bought merchandise from many times in the past. My advice to Etsy - make sure the people who are interviewing candidates go through interview training and understand they cannot engage in sexist or ageist behavior because I'm pretty sure that's what happened in my situation. Do better, Etsy.
