Great company and people, not so good recruiting team. My process consisted of 7 interviews in 3 rounds. First recruiter, the hiring manager and the 5 loop like interviews, and it took 3 months in total, with long gaps between rounds where recruiter was ghosting me, not replying my emails, not answering my questions, etc. also let’s say that they don’t prepare you in any form or capacity to interview. Having interview with plenty of tech companies in the past (both FAANG and not) this was definitely the worst, less communicative, more shady, I’ve had. Pretty much weeks of no response followed by a “We loved talking to you so you moved to next step / want to make you an offer” reading other reviews, it seems this is the norm, which is extremely ironic as everyone i interviewed was was really nice and communicative. You’d think I had a bad recruiter but I had the chance to talk to a few coordinators also through my journey and all were the same. This solely made me decline their offer, which wasn’t the best either. I know things might move slow, but good recruiters touch base with you regardless just to tell you they there is no update. Etsy needs to up their game on this side if they want to attract good talent.

A recruiter reached out to me about several roles. I had an initial screen with the hiring manager who went over my background and asked me several behavioral questions. Largely it was a positive experience but I felt uncomfortable towards the end about being questioned about my use of the male pronoun exclusively when talking about some of my experiences. I understand Etsy is very supportive of diversity but this felt judgmental for no reason. My background and real experiences would not lend credibility to this assumption. I guess even at progressive organizations it seems some things can be taken to the extreme. I had a second technical screen afterwards which I thought went well. However, I wasn’t invited to an on-site. I did ask for some feedback to take away which Etsy provided which I appreciated tremendously.
