      Candidature

J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. Le processus a pris 7 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Equinix (Redwood City, CA) en oct. 2014

      Entretien

In early May of 2014 I saw that Equinix was hiring a Partner Marketing Manager on Glass door. A former colleague of mine was working there and submitted an employee referral on my behalf. She also sent my resume directly to the hiring manager. Then my colleague suddenly left the company a month later and did not respond to email or voice mail. 2 months later in July (3) HR mgrs each contacted me for a phone screening. I ended up screening with 2. The process was disconnected and one HR person was brand new. All were very professional the interviews went great and I was told to expect a call for in office interviews. 2 weeks later in July I was called for a round of interviews at the Redwood City offices. I noticed team was made up of new employees - the longest one had been there under a year, the other 3 between 3-5 months. Interviews went well. My final interview was with the dept mgr. with a title equivalent to the hiring manager's. Person had been there almost 2 years. The interview decidedly lacked enthusiasm the person's questions and style was a little arrogant, looking for reasons to disqualify me. I left with mixed feelings. End of August HR contacted me for an interview with the hiring mgr. at 4pm Friday of Labor Day Weekend! I asked for any other time and she told me the manager was remote and booked to 4pm. I arrived on time, no one showed up at 4. Asked the admin to try to reach the manager, which she did at least 3 times. At 4:30 the mgr finally shows up, apologizes, and immediately informs me he only has until 5. Actually a very nice person, been there a long time. BUT my interview was (seriously) his white board drawing of a football team in Xs and 0s like a Famous former Oakland football coach. Interview went ok, but it lasted less than 30 minutes and when I asked when there would be a decision, he said his colleague I had interviewed with has 2 people he knows that he wants the manager to interview before making a final decision. In mid Sept. I called my HR contact and no one had been hired. He assured me it would be decided within the week. I called HR every other week through October and it was the same story every time. My final call was in mid-December and after that I stopped checking. Fortunately I found a great job in Feb, but but when I noticed that same is still posted a year later I believe others may find my experience relevant to their situation. I know it's an employer's market but I wish this would have been managed differently. It showed a complete lack of courtesy by the manager and the company that left me feeling sorry for the HR contact who was in the middle. I've read other reviews on Glass door complain of office politics within upper management in this dept. and a general dissatisfaction with the dept. and a noticeable turnover. My only goal in telling this story is 100% well intentioned - a simple message to prospective candidates: Don't get your hopes up, do a background check of your own on Glass door and keep looking elsewhere! My former colleague who left suddenly? She agreed to sign an NDA before leaving on a 2 month vacation in Hawaii.
