      Entretien

      The interview process with Enterprise consisted of one brief phone interview and 3 person-to-person interviews. I applied online and received a call within hours from a recruiter who asked me simple questions (probably just to establish that my personality was upbeat and that I sounded relatively personable and outgoing). She set up an interview with me at the group headquarters. The recruiter was very informative and prepared me well for the interview, letting me know it would be the first of several and that the dress code is business professional. The first interview was with the recruiter who had telephoned me at the corporate office in Austin. The interview consisted of an informational section, a round of behavioral questions, and an opportunity for me to ask questions of the interviewer. The interview lasted about 25 minutes and at the end I was given the contact information for the area manager with whom I would have my next interview and also given "homework" of visiting a branch and observing an hour of their business day. **To prepare for this interview, I did research on commonly asked behavioral interview questions and practiced my answers to several of them. This helped me jog my memory and have intelligent, well thought out answers to almost every question that was given to me. I had also done a good deal of research on the company and knew what to expect and what they were looking for in general.** The area manager called me to set a time for my second interview, and he went ahead and scheduled it so that it would follow the hour of observation that I had already set up with the branch. The recruiter had given me a list of questions to ask the branch employees, which helped me get a dialog started with them once I arrived. It was a busy, ugly, rainy day, and I spent at least half of my observation time talking to the branch manager (I learned later that that is really not normal: the assistant manager usually oversees the observation time, but that branch's assistant was on vacation). This interview turned out to be with both the Area Manager and the Branch Manager. It lasted about 45 minutes and was definitely the most intense of the three interviews. The Area Manager did almost all of the speaking and essentially started by telling me his own history with the company and by "selling" me the concept. This Area Manager was an exceptional salesman, and really brought a lot of intensity to the interview. He then turned it over to me, and basically told me to tell him why he should hire me. He did ask follow up questions to keep me talking, but it would have been horribly uncomfortable if I hadn't been well prepared and confident in my answers. I know that I did a pretty good job here of selling myself as a smart, outgoing, potential long-term employee because the interview lightened up after I had spoken about myself and ended fairly quickly with a nod between the two managers and a business card given to me for the next manager who would call me to set up an interview. I learned later that interviewees that they were less impressed by initially were handed random objects and asked to sell them (thank GOD they didn't do that to me: I would have bombed). **Be sure of you strengths heading into this interview and be ready to "sell" yourself. In my interview, the area manager basically told me what he was looking for from employees by highlighting the points in his own story that had resulted in his promotion. Pay attention to what they seem to be looking for and make sure to hit on reasons why you fit into that perception of the "ideal new employee."** I can't remember the title of the next level manager with whom I had the last interview. Suffice it to say, he is not a company VP (that would be yet another level up: the VPs are called Group Rental Managers), but the man made 6 figures and had been with the company about 10 years. This interview was cake. He basically seemed to trust that the area manager had made a good decision by passing me on, and was just going through the motions. This is pretty typical throughout the company. We talked about his history with the company, his kids and wife, his love of sports, and shook hands. The recruiter who had initially interviewed me called me a few days later to let me know I had been passed through the interview process and that background and credit checks were in progress. One week later the Area Manager called me and hired me-then it was off to a week long training session at the group corporate headquarters. Good Luck.

      Process was pretty straight forward. Had first interview with the recruiter, second interview was with the area manager, received an offer after via phone. Interviews were at different locations so planning was a little difficult if you don’t know the area.

      There are three interviews. The first one was with a recruiter, the second one is in the stores and the third one is with the big boss. I didn’t get to the third interview. They seemed desperate for people and that was a red flag to me.
