WATCH OUT! after a short Skype interview, they will ask you to complete a detailed assessment asking for advice on how to do their job. I never comment but it is disgraceful how this company takes advantages of their applicants.

Thank you for your review. It saddens us to hear that your experience with us caused you to believe that we would ever take advantage of the time and energies the candidates invest in our hiring process. We aim to assess candidates under different aspects throughout the different stages in place. Since the time of your interview, we have adjusted the process, extending the time dedicated to the first phone interview to allow comprehensive answers to any possible questions the candidates would have about the structure of our hiring process, and the rational behind. The assignments are still in place, as they are a key step in evaluating technical proficiency. Candidates are presented with real cases, but in no way related to Empatica. It would be silly for the team to use that work in any way other than to evaluate the candidate's thinking and sophistication. They're also useful to filter out the many candidates who are just window shopping for new roles with limited seriousness. Interestingly, we have seen that the most talented candidates really appreciate the challenge. Best wishes, Empatica People team

We scheduled a phone call which went well. Conducted the interview which was with two people which was not stated before the call. It was confusing to have two people ask questions and conduct an interview. The questions were scenario based, which seemed like issues within the organization. It didn't flow or allow me to elaborate on my background. The kicker was a few days later the recruiter sent me a scolding e mail saying I was late for the call. I had already conducted my interview. I know start ups can be disorganized, but this was embarrassing.

Thank you for your feedback. Please do accept our sincere apologies for the mistake that occurred. We have had a very large amount of candidates applying and your name got mixed up with the one of the candidate who was actually late. We can assure you we never meant to sound 'scolding', but in consideration of your review, we will adjust the tone of voice of our future communications. The scenario-based questions in our interview are a way for us to evaluate your approach towards different situations. In fact we have seen that, unfortunately, most HR managers have a strong bias towards run-of-the-mill recruitment processes, and not much on culture building within a fast growing company, which is a lot more valuable to us. Thank you, Empatica People Team
