Disclaimer: * During my application process for the HR Rotational Internship position at Emma - The Sleep Company, I sought information from others' experiences and valued informative reviews. This review aims to be factual, non-biased, and provide insights into my personal experience. Application Process Timeline (September 2023 - November 2023): * Applied in September for the HR Rotational Internship Programm in the Frankfurt Office. * Completed a cognitive assessment test, I want to emphasise the importance of practicing with exercise questions beforehand. * Find out which questions you can do well and quickly and which ones you need more time to complete => during the actual test: Focus on the questions you feel confident with and skip the questions you need more time to complete * Final decision from Emma was communicated in November 2023. Initial Interview (20 min): * Scheduled an interview at an unusual time (4:40 am) due to time zone differences. * Initial interview was not conducted as the interviewer failed to show up. * After reporting the issue, received prompt apologies, attributed to technical problems, and successfully rescheduled. First Screening Interview (Near End of October): * Questions included: Tell me about yourself, What motivated you to apply?, Why should we hire you as a person?, Why shouldn't we hire you as a person?, What is a recent book you've read?, What makes you creative?, What other jobs/companies have you applied to and why?, When can you start? * Despite feeling like an interrogation, received positive feedback a few days later. Second Interview (1 hour, Two Interviewers): * More conversational, with questions such as Tell us about yourself, What is your motivation to work here?, What fields of HR do you know?, Experiences in HR, How would you promote Employer Branding/People Development/Marketing/Recruiting for a new hypothetical project?, What is your interpretation of Emma's motto on employee freedom?, Who inspires you and why?, Previous job experience, Challenging situations, Changes you would have liked in previous job. * Positive response received; process moving forward. Third Interview (30 min): * Questions included: Tell me about yourself, What motivated you to apply?, What would make you unhappy/happy in the position after 6 weeks?, We normally team two interns together, what skills would the other intern have to have that would compliment your skills? * Positive response received; invited to another interview for a different position. Fourth Interview (30 min, Two Interviewers - People Development Team Intern): * Questions covered: Tell us about yourself, Motivation to apply?, Expectations from the People Development position, Why apply for the HR Rotational Internship Program?, You have a broad study background how does that fit into HR? * Positive vibes from interviewers; they expressed hope for future collaboration. * A week later, received an email indicating their decision to go with other candidates. Tips for Future Applicants: * Conduct thorough research on Emma - The Sleep Company. * Stand out not only professionally but also personally. * Be creative and think outside the box in your answers. * Keep hopes in check and explore professional alternatives (plans B, C, and D). Conclusion: * Despite a positive overall experience, the outcome was not successful in my case. * I want to encourage future applicants to be well-prepared, creative, and resilient. * It wasn’t meant to be for me, that doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. Remember, your journey with Emma - The Sleep Company might differ, but these insights aim to provide a comprehensive overview of my experience in the application process.
