No follow-up with applicants or clear timelines on a decision making process. Drafting a "you are not selected to move forward" or "thank you for applying, but if you do not hear from us in two weeks.." email takes one minute to write and press send to potential candidates and applicants. Their interview process is not organized so instead you are left with a follow-up post by the CEO on LinkedIN months later stating they are still hiring for the position when the company didn't have the wherewithal to send an automatic reply to the current applicants or write clear emails stating potential candidates are not selected to move forward in the interview process. This tells me there is a gap in leadership and communication at this organization. It's disheartening when a company cannot provide the same level of communication that they would expect had you been hired and/or that they provide to their clients. In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. As someone who has been in your shoes, I know how disheartening it is to apply for a position and not get a response. Honestly, if we had the bandwidth to respond to every application, we would. However, we are a small team (4 people), and we don’t have an HR department. Unfortunately, we have to rely on auto-responses for the 200+ applicants we received. That said, we read every single cover letter and resume and get back to every applicant who interviews with us. This response is done on our timeline, and for a small team, it takes time. At the end of our hiring process, we decided to hire a second manager due to the volume of business we foresee. We don’t dismiss applicants quickly, which might feel like you are left wondering is because we were assessing if we need additional staff. Related to this, our CEO gives us two weeks off every year during the holiday season, which is not deducted from our PTO, and she took over the hiring process to allow our staff to disconnect and rest during the holidays. So, yes, there was a slight disconnect in the language she used when reposting, but we are so grateful for it as it allows us to have a work-life balance while she covers for us. I regret that the way this was posted created more frustration for you or any applicant. Thank you again for applying, and we appreciate the time and effort, you, or anyone has put into the interview process. As noted, we are not finished, and many will hear from us this week as we return from a two-week break.
