J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 1 semaine. J'ai passé un entretien chez EduEdge Learning Hub (Serangoon) en oct. 2022

      Entretien

Very rigorous 3-round interview with an online video introduction- an online interview with the founder and lastly a face-to-face panel of judges that will require you to prepare a lesson plan beforehand and do a teaching demonstration in front of them. Was also given an English paper to complete which takes about 30-45 minutes to complete so you need to head to the centre earlier as well before your interview. I would say, don't waste your time applying for this company. They want valuable teachers and exclaim that they love the amount of experience you have but will refuse to pay you the salary you deserve. Management actually sniggered during the interview when he asked for my expected salary and told me that their salary is in line with the current industry. I found this to be absolutely untrue. At other centres, I had to prepare less and was offered way more for my experience. I was really saddened as I initially was very happy to find a centre that really cares for and is passionate about helping students, guess it does not apply to their employees. They also had an enterprise-career track where teachers can go on to own outlets of the centre, this is on an invite-only basis, but within the panel of judges, 3 were men and 1 was a woman who is a co-founder. I have my suspicions about whether gender plays a part in becoming a business owner. Was expected to go through a 6 month "arduous" (their words) training for a measly monthly rate claiming it is their way of training both new and even experienced teachers when in reality it just sounds exploitive. (Note: Their pay range on Glassdoor gets lower and lower each time I see it, and the program is now apparently 5 months) The job posting has been there for a while, and it may be for a good reason... They even showed me the way they mark student essays which were entirely full of red markings, claiming that it is very detailed and takes a good hour or more to mark. Thus, a lot of overtime goes into marking. Marking is common in the teaching industry and that is not my main complaint. The reality is that students can only process so much feedback at one time and hence all those markups/comments may not even be useful for students. This also adds unnecessary stress to the teacher's workload since they also have to help plan other activities within the centre itself. All in all, I wish I had checked Glassdoor before I went ahead with the interview because I really prepared so much for this centre. I think their Glassdoor reviews from previous employees show how gaslighted they felt, which is what I felt from simply a 2-hour panel interview with them. I cannot imagine how taxing the actual job would be. Stay away.
