The recruiter reached out some time (I want to say weeks) after I applied for a brand strategist role. Except they didn't reference the role - they just sent a canned email saying they wanted to discuss "opportunities" and to schedule an appointment. I scheduled a meeting, as requested, and they didn't call. 40 minutes later, they sent an email saying they were in a meeting without their computer and lost track of time. Totally believable in 2022, right? They send me another link to reschedule and--since I didn't want to waste any more of my time--I verified that they were calling about an existing role. They referenced the role I originally applied for, so I scheduled another appointment. This time they called and we had what I thought was a good conversation with enthusiasm on both sides. They said they'd be passing along my info and profile to the hiring team and that I can expect to hear back before the end of the week. Didn't hear a thing. I sent a follow-up the next week and no response. I sent a third email with feedback around how a response would be much appreciated. No response. Please do better -- how you treat candidates, whether you want to hire them or not, matters. Anyone you interview deserves a response. Also, at least run candidates’ resumes by the hiring managers before scheduling screening calls. When I worked in HR/recruiting, this is how we did things. Why waste our time and yours?
