Unfortunately, my experience with the phone interview was quite disappointing. The originally scheduled interview was missed without any notice, and I only received a response after following up via email. It was then rescheduled for the next day at a time set by the interviewer.
The interview began about 15 minutes late and, although it was supposed to last 25 minutes, it ended after just 8 minutes. There was constant background noise during the call from a baby, which made it difficult to concentrate and left the interaction feeling unprofessional.
What was most concerning was how unprepared the interviewer seemed. No meaningful questions were asked about my background, and nothing was shared about the position or the company. At one point, I was asked why I was looking for a job and whether I was currently employed—questions that could have been easily answered by simply glancing at my résumé. I had clearly listed the end date of my most recent role, so it felt like my application hadn’t been reviewed at all.
As someone who’s had many professional interview experiences, this one felt rushed, impersonal, and dismissive. I didn’t feel that my time was valued, and I wasn’t given a real opportunity to present myself. Receiving a generic rejection email just two days later only reinforced the impression that the process lacked thought and respect.
Overall, it was a discouraging experience that didn’t reflect the professionalism I would have expected.
