Got to second interview before declining to continue. Wished to continue, great interviewer in 1st interview which made me excited about the prospect of joining the team. Truly was ready to give this a thumbs up experience, but...
Problem was the second interview. This one was on site with HR (approx 10-15 mins) then stay onsite to be REMOTELY interviewed by dev team (ie they were not on site) for 60-90 mins. This on the day governor requested all residents to stay home (COVID surge). Asked to have this moved to remote and was told that was not their (HR) interview process. Asinine.
HR, you lost the company a candidate because your process is not taking into account COVID. At least you are doing it for your dev employees (but not HR?).
Suggest process change to all interviews conducted remotely (industry standard from my recent experience). On site should be reserved for onboarding, if at all (during COVID).

Entretien
Because I was referred by an employee, I skipped the first interview and went straight to the 90 min technical interview. The panel consisted of 4 managers and 1 team lead. They gave me control of a VM that they had set up for the interview and we went through various samples of code.

Demonstrate cloning git repo. Create a method for sorting strings according to requirements. Talk through problems observed in sample data retrieval code. Refactor concurrency code sample to work as expected.
