I applied through an agency.
First round:
- Have a casual chat with a team member.
- Negative: his English accent is difficult to hear. Also he was in a rush or something so he kept breathing heavily while interviewing me which made candicate like feel uncomfortable.
- Positive: I feel that he can understand my ability in both English, Japanese and Technical scope and gives me praise and recognition.
Second round:
- Have a technical interview with a C-level Japanese Manager.
- Negative:
+ He asked me about my technical experiences.
+ He shown me the product and it’s crashed immediately :))
+ He asked about agile development and why you have to use agile or waterfall.
+ He asked about my most interesting experience in DevOps.
+ But after that he gave me feedbacks about my business understanding such as: "It is unknown whether he can understand customer requirements and business models for professionals and BtoB, and reflect them in agile system development (his success stories were mainly about minimizing product downtime)" while like I mentioned above, he only asked me about my technical skill.
+ His English is sucked and I don't think he can understand my answer in English and he still gave me feedback that my English is not good for business communication.
Overall: Although I was best match for this position, the first engineer also felt the same, this company's manager c-level people do not have enough vision to evaluate candicates.
