I applied on indeed.com and received an email from the Sales Director a few days later asking to schedule an interview to "exchange some ideas." I researched the company and went to the interview on a Monday and pitched my marketing campaign ideas to the Sales Director and the Owner for what I would have done with their social media and blog, etc. It seemed like a pretty good interview, i.e. it was a reciprocal conversation rather than interrogative, and I was told that I would hear back from them, whether they decided to hire me or not, by that Thursday. I emailed the Sales Director on the Thursday, reiterating my interest in the position and enquiring about an update, to which he never responded.
I have since (a month later) seen the company implement more than one of the social media ideas I pitched during the "interview," and have therefore concluded that they never intended to hire anyone and that they simply wanted to steal ideas from candidates and then implement them themselves. I suppose I should have interpreted his statement literally when he said that the interview was to "exchange some ideas."
