Interview process was very long and had many rounds, about five in total? Did not progress until the next round as had accepted a different offer at a different company.

Recruiter was very enthusiastic and supportive, and general interview experience was quite welcoming and pleasant. Interview was for 'intern' position with intern training provided, but they expect you to have graduated. Apparently 90% pass and stay on after 3 month initial probationary period.
After reviewing CV, two part interview (usually done same day):
- Technical interview
- Behavioural interview
Technical part starts off by asking questions about what you've done in the past and what technical skills you have. This is followed by a typical Leetcode easy to medium question done in your preferred language, probably just trying to screen out people who can't code or communicate to a basic standard.
The main technical bit was a broad system design exercise. Given this is an entry-level role more guidance is given and expectations are adjusted, but still not easy. I guess it helps to differentiate the ability of candidates though.
Behavioural interview was fairly typical, just the standard questions about motivation, learning, teamwork, aspirations, etc.

Interview process was as follows:
- Chat with recruiter (15min)
- Chat with a team lead (30min)
- Take home challenge (got told it is quick to do and not to spend much time on it, but if you take it seriously it will take at least a few hours)
- Technical / System Design Interview (~1.25hrs)
- Chat with VP Engineering / SVP Engineering / Product lead (30min)
- Chat with CEO/CTO (30min)
- Finally, background check + 3 (!!) references
In my opinion the interview process is far too long and requires a massive time commitment from the interviewer. You will be repeating yourself and answering the same questions in most interviews, I think it could definitely be shortened. A couple times throughout I asked the recruiter what was left in the process and didn't get a clear answer. Then when I reached what I thought was the end, I would get told we "just had to pass the next stage". I think Deputy could be more transparent with the length of the process at the start.
Aside from this, none of the rounds were particularly difficult and the recruiter was super helpful and kept in touch actively through the process. I enjoyed meeting the people at Deputy, I definitely felt like it was a place I would like working and get along with my co-workers.
