I was contacted by DK Global’s hiring manager for a quick call about a project, and while the conversation started promising, things quickly shifted once I asked basic workflow questions. Curiosity and professional input didn’t seem to be welcomed, and the creative direction felt outdated.
I continued the conversation via email because the project seemed straightforward and I was willing to help, but management’s response confirmed my initial concerns: they wanted me to cut my pricing by more than half while demanding unlimited revisions and long hours at a fixed rate I haven’t charged since high school. They kept insisting on “premium, high-standard design no matter how long it takes,” yet refused to compensate me fairly. The micro managing and need to lower my own standards to meet theirs was not worth it.
The entire experience felt bizarre and unprofessional. They eventually ghosted me when I held firm on reasonable boundaries. Designers should approach with caution.
