      Entretien

First saw the ad for job vacancy on a job board with an employment agency called FLEX RECRUITMENT! I applied and was asked to complete a tick box questionnaire where you had to basically answer yes to five Q'S. This is just a form of the job criteria you need before being considered for interview. I answered correctly and was told I never passed! I contacted Crown Couriers myself and I was offered an interview... " Amazing what results you get when taking the initiative". At the interview I was told about the company and their so called values and what they expect from the employees. I filled out the job application, Had a prep talk and told they would check my refs, CRB. Two days later I received a call telling me I had the job and to come in the next day. When I returned to start my job there was heath & safety for two hrs. Next the manager who runs the day operations for your area will take you through the rest of the induction process. The company normally only takes on Sub-contractors who have their own vehicles, insurance ect ect.... They are apparently only trying out pay-e drivers on certain contracts. I was told my hours of work, the contract to be undertaken. But when it came to the rate of pay... Flex recruitment had it at 7 - 7.30ph with o/t after 8hrs. When I originally asked this at the first stage of my interview, I was told I will find out if I am taken on - this was the recruitment manager. Come my first day , nobody knew how much i'd be paid! ..Not a good sign of communication between staff... After pushing to find out, I was told.. 6.45ph. Now, a jobs a job. But when you take into account other factors such as .. ' lack of communication bordering on the evasive, Staff not apparently being up-front and honest. One has to start thinking - long term prospects! For-get-it...Despite my doubts about this company, I took the job. Two days later after working with a subie, I was given my own van to use and told that you will be on a contract starting 3 hours earlier ( originally 7-am till 5-pm. ). Given we all have a choice in life - ( well most of us ) - I thought this company are like a lot of others ....
