I was contacted by one of their recruiters about a week after applying for the position online. I was excited about the opportunity and they were interested in pursuing me as a candidate, so we set up the initial phone screen. That went well, and the team member I spoke with was very nice.
My second interview was a 1:1 zoom video with a senior team member, who like someone else mentioned on here, came across as very disinterested and was not actively listening or engaging in conversation. This person was basically asking me very generic questions, like reading questions off a checklist, and with no follow-up dialogue.
I was also told this interview would be more of a behavioral interview with some technical questions, and that a portfolio review would happen in the next round interview. This was not the case, after asking a few generic behavioral questions, the interview quickly pivoted into a portfolio review. Our call was only scheduled for 30 minutes, and we were already about 10-15min in, so there wasn't quality time to talk through one of my case studies. Also, the interviewer did not allow time in the end for me to ask questions. By the end of my interview, I learned absolutely nothing about the role or what the actual day-to-day looks like at Credit Sesame.
It was clear to me that this interviewer had zero training or experience on how to properly, and respectfully, interview candidates. A few days later, I received an email that they would not be moving forward with me. They failed to provide me with any feedback around their decision.
I was actively interviewing with other companies at the time, so I wouldn't have chosen to continue with them after this experience. My 1:1 with their senior team member left a lot to be desired.
