Located the Posting for the position, applied online, and targeted an introduction email to the HR Director. Within a day I received an email from an HR recruiter to set up an initial telephone interview for 10/31/14 at 1pm PST. The communication was that the recruiter would initiate the call (the listed number in his signature block was a cellular phone number). On or about 1:15pm PST I had not received a call from the recruiter or an email - I called the phone number listed and left a voicemail and followed-up with an email requesting information/reschedule at his convenience. Almost immediately I received a phone call from him (blocked number on caller ID) apologizing for the delay and that he would call me back "soon". On 11/3/2014 I sent an email inquiry to the recruiter and received the following email on 11/04/2014: "Sorry. Thursday at 9:30AM." The interview with the recruiter on 11/6/2014 was about 30 minutes and did not provide much detail regarding the position - understanding the basics were to be covered during this portion. The recruiter was informative by not detail committed when questioned about specifics. The recruiter ended the interview stating that he would be in touch. On 12/01/2014, after two follow-up emails, the recruiter wrote to ask if I had a nice Thanksgiving and stated that he hoped to hear from a manager this week. Approximately one week later I received the standard HR email that I would no longer be considered.
The communication process was frustrating. While I understand that a recruiter has more than one applicant to engage I would expect serious/professional engagement nonetheless. As a professional I understand that things happen and that we need to remain fluid but I would never offer the excuse for missing a scheduled meeting on a World Series celebration.
We regret that the communication process was frustrating for you. We are always trying to improve the candidate experience. Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback.
