Process consisted of a recruiter screen via video call, and then a panel with the lead engineer and hiring manager. Unfortunately, the experience was pretty disappointing.
- Scheduling: Entirely automated via AI. There is no human contact outside of the actual interview slots. It's understandable to offload this to AI, but to potential employees it's not appealing considering recruiters do not seem to respond to email inquiries.
- The Panel: The interviewers in the panel seemed disengaged or unprepared; they stated out loud they were "trying to think of questions to ask".
- Communication: Despite being told the role was an "urgent hire" and being explicitly promised I would not be ghosted, the company went silent after the panel. I'd followed up via email a week after the panel interview, and got no response. A few days later, I discovered the role had been re-posted in LinkedIn. I was never sent a rejection email, I only found out I was no longer in consideration by manually checking the workday portal.
If you tell candidates you won't ghost them, please follow through. It takes 2 minutes to send a templated rejection, especially for candidates who spent hours researching and preparing for your team. Seems like this is a common issue from other reviews here.
