One big red flag of a company- no surprise that most of the employees are men. - Spent the entire interview process telling me I'm 'inexperienced', although I was overqualified for the role. Turns out they were doing so to be able to offer me the lowest possible salary they could, before even asking my salary expectations. Major sexist undertones, I'm sure they wouldn't have spoken this way to a man - Constantly talking about money during the whole process- how I'll be able to buy a house, earn £100k... no mention of any other benefit to working there. When I asked, none of the three people that interviewed me could name one thing they enjoyed about the company other than 'making loads of money' or overworking to get the money - The final interview with the owner of the company was unlike anything I've experienced before. I was questioned aggressively about my motivations at work. I told them it was making sure my team is happy and motivated, achieving targets, and enjoying my work. What then followed was repeated questions about why 'money isn't my main motivation' and how he doesn't 'get it' (all of this while he's sat on his sofa at home, not smiling the entire time). Then continued to barrage me with questions on what I think a 'good salary is' (then disagreeing with me), and admitting that everyone that works here works ridiculous hours. Overall a company rife with toxic masculinity- if you apply here prepare for them to lowball you, walk away if they do- know your worth!

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review following your interview with us back in December 2023. We take feedback on Glassdoor very seriously and use it to shape how we move forward as a business. With that in mind I would like to challenge your review: - Firstly a large proportion of the team at CA are women; and our top sales person is a woman. We regard equal opportunities seriously and assess all candidates equally on their experience and best fit for the role regardless of gender. - We pride ourselves on ensuring our culture at CA is a very positive one for everybody who is a part of CA, though we also don’t hide behind the fact that part of this culture is driven by high performance. From the sales side of the business, money and commissions are a big part of this. - With all candidates, salary expectations are requested by our recruitment agency and again checked during the interview process. I recognise that in this instance there was a misalignment with your salary expectations versus your experience levels relevant to the role on offer, which was uncovered in the first stage interview. - Despite you having some impressive experience, you were under qualified for the role due to no experience in both selling a product with a monetary value and the industry we are in. This was highlighted to you during the interview process to provide you a realistic expectation of the salary for the role. The last thing we want during an interview process is to mislead candidates. - We agree that you were asked several questions regarding money as being a motivator. The reason being the role you applied for was a sales role, with a good basic salary and excellent commissions. In our experience those who are motivated by money in a sales role do far better than those who are not motivated by money. - On asking the interviewer what their response was re why they liked working at Contracts Advance, they responded to you with 'career progression, a positive team culture, strong product and a high earning potential'. With the Interviewer having been in our sales department for 7 years and knowing the character, I am comfortable with this response as the Founder and Managing Director of the business. - You also asked the question to my business partner re what qualities are needed to be successful in the role – the response being those who are most successful in business work harder than others and with this potentially want to work longer hours. Whilst that isn’t a pre-requisite for being part of CA it was an honest answer. Craig Millhouse Founder and Managing Director

I was approached by a recruiter on LinkedIn. Spoke on the phone with him first and he put me forward for an interview. Had my first interview with the Sales Director. Was initially going for a Senior Business Development Manager role, however with my limited cold calling experience, I was asked to wait a month as they were hiring regular BDMs later. I agreed with the decision and waited a month before I reached out again and was invited to the second stage in-person interview immediately. The second stage was with the SD and Head of Sales. Both very good interviewers that made me feel at ease. They did of course challenge a few things I said, but that can be expected at any interview. I was invited to the final stage interview with the Managing Director which was a short 30 minute Teams call. I felt less confident after that last stage interview, but ended up getting an offer. The offer was at a slightly lower base salary than the recruiter said initially, but I decided to accept the offer as I liked everything I had learned about the company during the interview process. I have now worked at Contracts Advance for a few months, and it has definitely been the right step for me in my career,

      Question 1

Standard sales interview questions to gauge experience with cold calling and 360 sales. Nothing unexpected. A lot of follow-up questions to all answers, so not just going down a list of pre-set questions one after the other, Felt more like a conversation than a grilling.
