On my end, the brief interview went seemingly well. My interviewer even went as far as to say, “You know more than I did when I first started”, when I explained my knowledge of Coinbase and crypto.
But as far as my qualifications, work history, or experience goes, they were never discussed.
The interview consisted of literally 3 questions:
"What do you know about Coinbase?"
(Which was extremely vague. Imagine having an interview as a mechanic and them asking...What do you know about cars? Like where would you even start, cars are so complex. You could spend an hour just talking about all the different treads on a tire. Same with crypto and Coinbase)
"What metrics have you been measured against?"
(As if how other employers decide to measure their employees is any indication on how well you will perform your job as a future employee. Here, hang on, let me just pull out all of these reports I've saved about my performance over the last decade, that coincidentally breaks down, statistically the rate at which I perform.
Here's a thought... just ask one of my references or previous employers how well I work. After all, that's what they are there for right?)
"What's your comp?"
(Just like that... "What's your comp?"... Oh comp, as in, compensation? So the question is, what is my compensation? That's a strange way to ask me my desired salary. Anyway, I proceeded to tell them. Then after I told them, they said, "Wait, what's your zip code? Oh yeah, this is non-negotiable. Everyone in this position gets paid the same." I'm like ooook, so why did you even ask me that in the first place)
So as you can see, the interview was not very well thought out on their end.
My resume and pre-interview questions were well received enough to get me the interview, but the interview was not used to further discuss experience, which left me scratching my head.
Additionally, my resume is 10+ years of only customer service and tech positions.
So receiving a response saying my experience doesn’t align with this position, just didn't add up.
I can honestly say that I’ve never had an interview like this before.
