They didn’t want to bring candidates in for a face to face interview unless they were the final candidates and to avoid wasting time. Understandable. Their wise solution? A video interview to screen people. That’s what phone interviews are for!!!
It was such a terrible experience because
1) I had to make sure the lighting was just right
2) most webcams are junky and have terrible audio & video quality
3) not enough time to read and process the questions before recording
4) no feedback like when communicating with an actual human on the phone or in person allows
I didn’t get called in. Oh well, whatever. In hindsight and my advice would be to cover your webcam while recording your answer.
