I applied for a full time position in person. I called back the next day to follow up and they were glad to set up an appointment. I think they saw the call back as me taking initiative, which helped them select me during a time when there were a lot of applicants.

Standard process. Filled out app. Two days later got a call, phone type interview. Next day someone called to schedule interview with local store mgr. interviewed with mgr. asked for availability, showed me store and told me to come in next day to fill out papers and work.
