I had a phone interview first, asking basic questions to see if I was a fit. I was contacted again for an in-person interview, and when I told my availability, the person who I was in contact with recommended a different time. I gave multiple days notice that I could not make that time, and would like to reschedule. I never got a response, and tried calling the interviewer's cell phone, but never got a message. I called his office to leave a message to confirm he got my email stating I could not make it, and later emailed me saying he was going to be out of town the evening of the interview, and would contact me after he interviewed everyone else. I never was contacted back.
