The interview process began with a phone call with a member of the talent team. This lasted for 30 minutes, during which we discussed my background, previous experience and reasons for applying to Causaly. They also outlined the interview process, and what I could expect at each stage. We did not discuss the role in specific detail, as this was the topic of the next interview with the engineering manager.
The second stage was a one hour non-technical chat with an engineering manager. We discussed the role in more detail, as well as my engineering background and personal career goals from an engineering standpoint.
The third round was a take-home task which was very challenging. It required ~25 hours of work to complete comprehensively, which was significant given the deadline of 1 week. I asked for a deadline extension for the task which was granted. My solution was discussed with two senior engineers and an engineering manager during an hour long interview.
The final interview was a one hour discussion with the CEO. We discussed the company values and my personal and professional values. I was also given the opportunity to ask any questions about the company direction, the company ethos and company culture.
Overall, it was a lengthy and challenging interview process. I found the people to be genuine and accommodating of my needs throughout.
However, I found the take-home task required too much time to complete. I was unemployed while interviewing, so could dedicate the time to this task. I do believe it would be incredibly difficult to complete this task comprehensively within the timeframe while working a full-time job.
