      Entretien pour Software Engineer

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Catalist, LLC (Washington, DC) en mars 2013

      Entretien

Was contacted by a recruiter for the position after applying online on CareerBuilder. He set up a phone interview with Software Architect. The phone interview involved questions on Java and Sql. In-depth knowledge of data structures in Java would do you very well in the phone interview and the first one and one interview which was 90 minutes long. After which they sent me a coding problem that I had to submit a solution for. It did not need to be complete but comprehensive. I sent over a working prototype. Then I was interviewed by the CTO in person. It was quasi technical and spoke of projects all the way from grad school onwards. Also explained a real problem and asked for a theoretical way to solve it. This interview was 60 minutes long. Then was interviewed by the Director of IT operations who did not ask anything technical but discussed previous work experience. I was also asked real life scenarios in work place and how I would handle them. this interview was 40 minutes long. The last interview was with the team leader, he asked me how to build a popular social networking portal. Then it was more about the structure of the company and work they do. This interview was 60 minutes long. I would recommend asking intelligent questions and reading up on Computer Algorithms and Java. After the first one on one, the questions asked are open ended there are no right or wrong answers but you need to be able to back up your answers with sound reasoning. A lot of them involved system design and approach.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

The interview with the CTO is very difficult. Be on your toes and be sharp. Be forthright if you do not know the answer but do not give up on a question without trying first. Learn basic concepts of Machine Learning, Natural Language processing, Bayesian Networks, Complex Advanced data structures, and Information Retrieval. Basically all the courses you would take when you do a Masters in Comp Science.
