I recently went through the interview process for a position at Care.com. In the beginning, the communication was great and everything seemed organized. However, as the process went on, the communication steadily declined. By the time I reached the third and “final” round of interviews, I was hopeful because of the positive feedback I had received. I spent a lot of time prepping and rearranging my life around these interviews, feeling like I was really respecting their time.
Unfortunately, after the final interview, I didn’t hear the results for over a week. My follow-up emails went unanswered, which was especially disappointing since I had invested so much time and energy into the process. When I finally heard back, I was told they had chosen another candidate. I asked for feedback, but only received a vague, non-committal response.
I felt that I had respected their time throughout the process, but they didn’t respect mine. I understand that not every candidate can be chosen, but the lack of follow-through and the decline in communication made the experience feel unprofessional and discouraging. Better communication and transparency would have made a big difference.

It was just as disorganized as the company; I had to meet with many different managers that all were frazzled and burned out from stress. They led me into different rooms where I met with all levels of managers, never telling me the exact one that would be my direct supervisor. They made several promises that were never realized, and when asked about these perks, no one could give me or the other trainees a straight answer.

I submitted my resume in response to a Craigslist.org post. I do not remember if I filled out an application before I had a telephone interview with a supervisor and then a 2nd telephone interview with a senior manager. I believe I was called a few days later with a job offer.
