Applied online and got a call. After applying online they called for a phone interview about a week later. Very friendly interviewer! We discussed things like work experience, why would I be a fit for the job? Am I ok with commission based salary? Have I worked commission based salary before? About two scenario questions and a few others I can’t recall. It was one of the chill interviews I’ve had and I was actually expecting it to be the opposite. I had gone on 4 other interviews before carmax, so I felt over prepared in a interview atmosphere. I think practice interviews are key. Gets you well relaxed and prepared but the interviewer was enjoyable to converse with. We even had things in common in personal life that we related to. Of course I was invited to the on-site interview. He gave me a heads up on the time and day it should be. They took two days after the phone interview to contact me for scheduling the onsite. It’s another 6 days for the on-site interview. Pretty confident since the initial was such a success.

Question 1
Have you ever worked in face to face sales before?

I had a disappointing experience with interview process. After submitting an online application, I was contacted by a hiring manager/recruiter who scheduled a 20-minute phone interview for a specific date and time.
Unfortunately, no one called at the agreed-upon time, and I did not receive any communication explaining the missed interview or offering to reschedule. A few days later, I received an automated rejection email.
The lack of communication and professionalism throughout the process was frustrating. If a company chooses to move forward or not move forward with a candidate, at least a basic courtesy and timely communication is expected.

Question 1
Are you available for a 20 minutes phone interview next week?
About a 15-20 minute phone interview. Basic questions like past job experience, are you comfortable with customer service? If they like you, you move on to an in person interview. A scripted interview with one of the sales managers asking open ended questions on why you would be a good candidate, if you have sales experience, & that you understand it is a 100% commission position. You will then complete a sales exercise on the lot, where you complete a brief walkaround of a vehicle & present some obvious features & benefits of the vehicle. If you get passed that, you meet the General Manager where he/she will be the final decision. He asked repetitive questions the sales managers did & then asked specific questions like "Describe a time you sold a product, what was the determining factor that resulted in the customer buying that product?"

Question 1
What means the most to you? Money, opportunity, recognition or integrity?
Easy-going and interviewee friendly. Looks to bring out opportunity for growth for the interviewee. Begins with a screening call by the manager, goes to an in-person interview with the manager where specific sales questions are asked, and then concludes with a final interview with the LGM to assess fit.
