Stages -online application -online assessments -video interview -assessment centre -final stage interview with Director/VP of Risk The first 2 are pretty standard. Submit application and if you meet the requirements you carry out a test. If you pass these then you invited to complete a video interview about you motivations and why Capital One etc. They give you adequate time to prepare your answers so you can respond comprehensively. I found this stage to be straightforward. Approximately 7 questions to answer. The assessment centre is very relaxed. Recruitment and managers who attend are very friendly and open. The assessment centre consists of a case study presentation (for which they send you details before hand), group interview and strengths based interview. The case study interview is very straight forward. Present to one person. I was asked some questions about it after which again were simple enough. Interview was with same person who listened to your presentation. Strength based interviews are different to competency interviews. They will not ask for specific characteristics so try to weave them into your answers, reflecting the company values and aims The group interview; they present you with a document and ask you as a group to make some business decisions whilst adding new information every 15 mins or so. Try to make the decision in line with the company’s vision and mission statement. Allow everyone to speak. If you can be the one to ensure time is well managed it would be a bonus. There is also some maths involved which may be integral to the task so be alert and sharp. Leave ample time to present. Again, if you can delegate in a collaborative manner this will reflect well. If you are successful it then proceeds to a face to face interview with the Head of Risk and the VP of Risk. It was very casual, some standardised questions and then it opens out for more of a discussion. Here they are looking to see if you fit well and what you ambitions are, whether they match the company and what you bring. Ultimately, do you match the corporate values. Be well read about the company, what is going on what challenges they face as well as potential solutions. They do not have to he correct but it shows you are proactive. I found both interviewers to be engaging and open to questions so do some prepared with things to ask and discuss. One of the interviewers took comprehensive notes whilst we discussed and one did not. Don’t let this faze you. Do not worry if they are not taking notes, just be yourself. Overall it is a very different process to most big companies, you’ll be surprised at how relaxed and welcoming everyone is but that is the true Capital One corporate culture. Waiting back to hear if I have been successful or not but again, the process and experience is by far one of the best around for graduates.
