      Entretien

I originally applied for a job at this company because I was impressed by their initial application and description of their company culture. They seemed like a great place to work. I received a timed take-home assessment which I was also fine with. It was to debug an app and answer a few questions. I completed it, sent it back, got almost an immediate rejection. When I asked for feedback there was no reply. For a company whose product is about customer feedback I thought this was ironic. Feeling like a definitely dodged a bullet here.

I was selected for a technical assessment after applying. The test was a take-home where I had to spin up a front-end and back-end locally, then find and fix 4 bugs - as well as draft up a response to a technically-inclined customer to let them know we fixed each issue. They said it should take around 45 minutes total, and not more than 2 hours. 4 bugs / 45 minutes = about 10 minutes per bug + drafted response. This amount of time is not practical. The take-home assessment required knowledge of Redux, which was not listed as a requirement in the job listing. I had to learn how to use this, which used some extra time; overall I took about 2.5 hours to submit my test. Three days later I received their response: "Thanks for completing our assessment. Unfortunately, we've decided not to move forward at this time. That said, we'd definitely be open to hearing from you again in the future." No details on why I was rejected. I followed up to ask if they could provide specifics on their decision, and they ignored me. It wasn't until I posted about my experience on LinkedIn and shared their test code publicly that they reached out to me only to ask me to hide the code I shared in GitHub. They refused to share a reason why my assessment was rejected. Overall a very poor and inconsiderate experience.
