I had to do a series of interviews. Since the company is based in China I utilized the Zoom video platform and the interviews were scheduled in the evening/night time. I was first sent a request for a video interview. Those went really well until my last interview had to be rescheduled due to technology issues on their end. I was disappointed with that since I was prepared and shifted my evening around to accommodate the unconventionally timed interview. However, I was understanding since we were trying to sync US time and Shanghai time. My next interview was scheduled with someone in the US office. This one was less personable. I was requested to send in some work examples. I e-mailed her after the interview and didn't receive any confirmation or "thank you" for my submission. Nothing even saying that she will review them. Out of professionalism I believe that confirmation is essential in these cases. That was the last I heard from them until I randomly received a rejection email.
I was also asked if I wanted to be an intern or contractor. Which was quite odd. The way it was all handled feels much like a startup. Too many hands in one pot and trying to create and fill many roles at one time without spending too much money.
Honestly, I feel like I dodged a bullet with them passing on me and not hiring me. Actions speak louder than words. I rather be with a company that exemplifies who I am that take pride on transparency, organization, unbiased decision making and clear communication.
I strongly recommend that ByteDance tighten up on their recruiting procedures as they are expanding more outside of China.

Entretien
I got contacted by the talent acquisition team. After sending them my resume, there was one written assessment, must choose 3 out of 4 given questions. Followed by 3 interview process.
