Its a long hard day but it starts with worth it all. Make sure you chat to everyone at the beginning. You will have to read aloud from an iPad on your own and then complete customer service on your own on a time pressure. You will have to do a group task of creating ideas and problem solving for a theme ours was 100 years of BA. Then you will do your face to face interview, make lots of convo and be really chatty

Starts out with an easy online application just with personal information, including CV submission. Once this was all screened almost immediately i recieved an invitation to do the online psychometric test which consisted of behaviour and personality questions and a timed maths section which I personally found the hardest, but it is not difficult and they allow plenty of time!! (The non maths half is not timed). After submitting I then waited a couple of days and I was invited to an assessment day at Waterside, their head office near London Heathrow. About a month later I was finally able to book the assessment day!
I booked for the 7.3am slot so I stayed in a near by hotel the night before, and I got the staff shuttle bus there the morning of the assessment at 6am (they say to allow an hour for the journey in case of delay). The bus was very easy to catch and I would recommend this! So I arrived at Waterside (the most amazing building!) around 6.15am and was the second candidate to arrive, so I think around this time is good!! After everybody had arrived we were taken to get our passes and then we put our coats and any large bags away and filled out a form about piercings and tattoos, and then gradually everybody did the height and reach tests which I found fine (I am 5’3 and a half) and then we went through to a presentation about the company and job itself. Afterwards we all sat and waited to be called through for role play and group tasks. For the group task just focus on being a team player, not too loud but also not being difficult or too quiet. The role play you have to read off an iPad out loud (to check for PA announcements) and then using that information and some more for the role play. For this just really listen to the ‘angry customer’ and be sympathetic but also don’t offer anything if you don’t know you can offer it, unless you are the manager. After this was what felt like the longest wait for everybody to finish role play/group tasks and then names were called out. The majority of people stood up and were taken away then they said they were missing some people and my name was called and I went away to a different room and we were told we were successful and we all had an interview! It was also sad as we didn’t get to say goodbye to the people that were sadly leaving. There were a few staff members in the room to answer any questions if need be. Shortly after I was called into the 2:1 interview where I started to get really nervous again! They were really helpful and prompting in the interview with my answers which helped me out a bit, but just make eye contact and have faith in what you are telling them. Most of the questions were ‘Tell me a time’ and only a couple of others. This lasted around 25 minutes but felt a lot shorter!! And then after that you can return your passes, collect your coat/bag and leave! We were told a 7-10 day wait to find out the outcome and I found out on the 9th working day I was successful!

I was so nervous and reading some of the other reviews really put me off but I’m so glad I done it. As I arrived at Waterside I was handed a pass and then sat with a group of other people who were waiting. We then got taken through to the recruitment area and showed our passports then done the reach/height test. At this point they ask about tattoos & piercings and you have to fill out a form. Then everyone went into a room and they done a presentation on the job role/salary what a roster would look like and what the company values etc are. After that there is a bit of waiting about for everyone else to complete it and then some people done their one to one role plays and some done group exercise. I went in for group exercise first and there were 4 assessors standing around the room observing us. The main thing they are checking is how well you can work in a team. I wore a watch and kept a note of the time and the important thing is to listen to each other and encourage the quieter in the group. After that we went back out to the seating area and started to get called up for our one to one rolepay. I was so nervous about this but I really didn’t need to be it’s so easy. The lady I had was so friendly and she just gave me a few problems I had to deal with, they don’t expect you to know BA policies they just want to see how well you deal with a problem. After everyone done both exercises they then called out some names and I was in the first group that got called, we were taken into another room and sat down. We got told we had made it through to the final part of the interview!! We were so happy. We then came back out to the main area and I literally had 2 seconds to get a drink then my name was the first to be called for the 2 to 1 interview. I didn’t have time to think about it but I was so nervous. It was about 20 minutes but literally felt like 5 minutes and they make you feel so comfortable! They say I should hear in 7-10 days via email if I’m successful. Keeping everything crossed I get the good news as it’s made me want it even more now! Everyone is so friendly though I were so scared but I’m so glad I done it and even if I don’t get the job I will be re applying in 6 months. There were 21 of us in the main group and 12 of us got through to the final bit.
