I scheduled and had a round of interview with the manager. The manager was impressed and invited me for the next round. After understanding more about the role and the company, I felt the role wasn't aligned with what I wanted to do. So, I told the manager I will not be pursuing the role. He reached back out to me telling me that he thought I would be perfect for the role and to give it another shot. I did and they moved me forward - I spoke to 2 other people and they were very impressed. I was continunously told that I have the perfect skillset to do well in the role. Several days passed and I did not hear back. I reached back out to them and they didn't respond the first few times. Eventually, they rejected me without any reasoning. They led me to believe I was perfect for the position and themselves reached out to me to invite me for more interview rounds.... just to reject me.
