      Entretien

This is a review of the company's hiring process and their potential as an employer. This company is unprofessional, disorganized, and totally amateur. After submitting an online application and receiving a response almost immediately, I set up an interview with Brainstorm. The interview was easy and went well, and they offered me the job that day. After receiving an initial offer through email from them, I declined their offer due to low pay, and they made a counter offer which I then accepted through email. After I sent my email accepting the position, I heard nothing from them for almost two weeks, even after I called them twice and emailed them two more times. Finally, I got a hold of the person who had interviewed me, and I set up a follow-up meeting explicitly stating that it would be to sign employment paperwork. When I showed up, there was no paperwork to be signed, and they did not even have a job description created for me. This meeting took nearly two hours, and at the end of it, the interviewer said that they would get the job description and paperwork to me by the end of that day. That never happened, and a week later, I emailed them with a list of questions that I needed answered before starting the job the following week. They never replied to this email, or to the two other emails I sent them asking about the employment paperwork, or the two phone calls I made to Brainstorm asking to have my paperwork signed before my start date. Finally, between 9:30pm and 11:30pm the night before my start day, I received three emails with my tax paperwork and contract. The contract was not correct - in my interview I had been told I would be receiving $13.50 per hour for the first 6 months, with a 50 cent raise to $14 an hour after 6 months - and this was nowhere in the contract. I received no information about what I was supposed to be working on, no answers to the questions I had asked (which were essential to being able to begin this job), and a half-hearted apology for the lateness due to having a busy month and several staff personal emergencies. I was left on my first day of work sitting on my couch with about 20 minutes of tax paperwork to fill out, which I couldn't even do because it was incorrect, without any idea of what I should have been working on, where I would get the materials from, how I would be expected to arrange transportation, etc etc. Their ineptitude lost me nearly a full day of wages, and they didn't seem concerned to fix the problem by making sure I had work to do so I could get paid. By noon on my first day, I still hadn't heard from them as to what I was supposed to be doing, so I accepted another job offer I had been given, and sent them an email stating that I was accepting another job since they had not actually given me a job to be able to do (or even made time to make sure the contract was signed prior to my first day of work so I could legally begin working). I offered to do contract work for them on the side as needed, and they never responded. That was almost a month ago. At any time they could have contacted me with a two minute phone call or a one sentence email asking to delay my start day, but they instead chose to ignore my attempts to contact them and left me out to dry, apparently unbothered that this affects my ability to support myself. They were extremely unprofessional, and I would be extremely wary of a company that cares little about its potential employees and is this level of disorganized and careless.
