The company sets up an interview via skype and asks you some basic interview questions in English regarding teaching. The entire interview lasts about 15 minutes to 30 minutes. They are very polite and after about 10 minutes into the interview, the second part of the interview begins and is conducted in Japanese. This is to test your language skills and assess how well you will be in Japan.

Which was also fine. After submitting your application, you get contacted for a first 'interview'. In reality this is just an orientation meeting with a couple other candidates, with a group discussion tacked on at the end. This is your first chance to actually speak and I guess they're looking for enthusiasm, general knowledge, your general level of English and for you to show that you know how to toe the line. If you pass, you get invited for a second interview. This is the actual interview. Most of the questions are rehashes of the application you filled in, so as long as you stay consistent on it, you should be fine. After a while, I had to do two roleplays. The first one was where I had to introduce myself in English to a class of junior highschoolers. The idea is to elicit a response and get some dialogue going as opposed to a monologue. The second roleplay was teaching an elementary school class a song of your choice with the idea of teaching vocabulary. I chose head, shoulders, knees and toes as most others would I assume, given that it's the easiest to do and teaches vocab nicely. Afterwards, they'll tell you they will be in touch in a couple of business days with their final decision.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

If you came up with a plan for a lesson, activity or a game and the teacher would tell you they weren't going to use it it, how would you deal with that?
