Initially they gave job posting titling " Backend Developer, Open Source at Booking.com" and the job description never mentioned about Perl programming requirement as a must. First round, I was given a HackerRank coding challenge. I was said that I cleared the challenge and was arranged a telephonic with HR to discuss the role. In the telephonic they discussed my experience and also said to me about work culture at booking.com. Then after 2 days, I got a mail saying that I was not selected for further interview rounds as I don't have Perl programming experience. I was completely surprised with the outcome.
I have few questions to them
1) Was my CV not enough to know that I have no Perl development experience?
2) Why was I invited to take a coding test and why did you say that I cleared it?
Have some professionalism and most importantly common sense.
Have clarity on job requirement.
Please don't waste time of others like this.
