J'ai passé un entretien chez BookNook (San Francisco, CA)
Entretien
You fill out an application. They ask you general interview questions to gauge your qualifications. Then you answer one-way interview questions, including having to read a children's book to imaginary students and answer questions they may have.

Question 1
Can you read the book to students as if they were sitting in front of you? How would you interact with them?
Application, then invitation to a one way interview with six questions. I knew there would be a demo lesson from what I had read on their website but wasn’t expecting it to be the last of the six question interview (I thought it would be recorded separately) - You have 3 minutes to present a lesson on the topic they assign that has 3 elements to it. I thought about putting a pin in it at this point but knew many others were applying too. I went ahead and recorded the demo lesson and lived to regret it. The interview questions were awkwardly worded. I wasn’t sure if I got the job or not from their response. I mean how do you take you haven’t displayed the skills to be a tutor so we want you to take lessons in early 2022, keep in mind we have had many people apply but would like to stay in touch. Also, be forewarned I have already successfully worked indirectly for them, have a Master’s in Teaching and am a state certified teacher. That interview was nothing but a joke.

Question 1
How does a teacher’s mindset effect students growth and achievement?
Per instructions, I prepared for a six question one-way video interview. That means that they can ask you anything via prerecorded video and you video your answers. They don't tell you if you can do a second take and they don't tell you how many minutes your answers should be. (Except once you have already started.) Then, surprise, they want you to teach a five minute class. There are 300+ applicants so you know everything has to be AMAZING. --- The killer is that they never got back to me. That's the worst part.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself. (Or something like that.) I can say that they gave me unlimited takes and plenty of time, but I did not know this when I was preparing.
