This process felt like a total waste of time. My honest advice: don’t waste your time on their assessment. I understand that assessments are quite common for design/technical roles now, but the way this company handles it is very different from others I’ve experienced... Usually, you only get a task after speaking with the hiring manager (not the HR). Here, I was asked to complete an assessment right after being “shortlisted,” even before any conversation with the company. What made it worse is the timeline, they give you 3 days, and it starts counting immediately from the moment the email is sent. There’s no flexibility or consideration for your schedule. I still completed the task on time and put real effort into it, but the instructions were very vague and lacked clear direction. It honestly felt like the brief might have been generated with AI and not properly reviewed before being sent to candidates. After submission, I didn’t receive any feedback at all. Not even a simple acknowledgment. That part was honestly the most disappointing - it just feels like your time and effort don’t matter. The HR conversation also felt quite surface-level. At the same time, there was a strong emphasis on “efficiency” and questions around working overtime / not leaving at 6pm sharp. That came across as a bit of a red flag to me in terms of work culture. For context, I was interviewing with another well-known tech company at the same time, and the difference in hiring experience was very clear - much more structured, respectful, and transparent.

This is for the US product designer position. There were 4 rounds in total. After meeting with the HR I worked on a 3-day design assessment. They asked for a full branding suite, 3 main screens, a case study of the process and interactive prototypes. It was a challenge but I like solving interesting problems, so I managed to turn it around by the deadline. Then I advanced to the next rounds and met with the executive director and the chairman. I had great conversations with them both, they said I’d be a good fit, and even gave me a verbal offer. They were building a team for new product verticals, I was genuinely excited. But only a day later I got a generic rejection email saying “due to internal changes, the position has been canceled” with no further explanation. There was lack of transparency, respect and professionalism. Candidates deserve more than getting rug pulled from these companies.
