      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez BetterUp (Detroit, MI) en mars 2022

      Entretien

Very involved process that involved only one-on-one interviews. First with the direct supervisor to the position, then a day with 5 different interviews throughout approximately 2 weeks later (3 peer interviews, 1 cross-functional interview, and a final “Mindsets & Values” interview.) Everyone I spoke with was extremely kind, particularly the supervisor to the position I interviewed for. While the process was fairly intense, I definitely felt like there was good reasoning behind how thorough everything was. The first 4 interviews for the most part were less formal — answering questions about my approach to my work, why I felt I would be a good fit, etc. The fifth interview felt much more focused and question-focused. Lots of scenario-based “describe a time where you did _______” questions, which caught me slightly off-guard compared to the previous interviews of the day, so I felt less comfortable, and could tell that the interviewer noticed. I was told very shortly after my final interview that they had chosen another candidate, so I assumed they were pretty sold on the other candidate but still interviewed me to be sure they were doing due diligence. They let me down very kindly, and the supervisor who I originally interviewed with offered to meet with me to discuss what happened, and to offer advice moving forward, which was very thoughtful, and something I had never experienced from another company. I was told that the position was likely more demanding than what I was suited for based on my experience, which felt slightly patronizing as someone with a bit of a chip on their shoulder from my experiences with job hunting, but I still appreciated the fact that I was even given an explanation at all. Overall the experience was positive, and I have no ill will toward the company at all.
