      Entretien

Interview process consisted of 8+ interviews and a case study. Majority of the people that I interviewed with; I would not be working with if I got the job. These were branded “cultural fit” interviews. As a result, they asked no questions related to the position. In fact, I had to lead much of the discussions in those interviews as questions were not organized. In other words, the Interviewers were “winging it”. Feedback that I got was that they didn’t like that I worked for a bank (that’s on my resume) and that they didn’t think I wanted the job. Clearly, interviewing 8 times means you do not want to work at a company and are not enthusiastic about the opportunity. Ugh, the narcissism of it all. The interviews were always scheduled last minute (think less than 24 hours on average) and the hiring manager forgot to give me the assessment so that 2nd interview with him had to be reschedule. I found this out hours before the interview. Luckily, I did not take off work. After I completed the assessment, I was told they were moving with another candidate due to a decision by the 8th interviewer (sounds like he should be the 1st interviewer?) 2 days prior of me getting the assessment. Thus, there was no reason to assign it to me in the first place. I stayed up very late to type it up. The company furthering its commitment towards wasting my (and other candidates) time. I was rejected on the 8th interview, but I believe there would have been 2 more. I will never interview this many times for a job ever again. But my “unenthusiasm” for this position lead me down this road with this company. Dodged a bullet so …. still winning. The hiring manager’s position has been recently posted. Oof.

Thank you for the feedback we appreciate the time and energy you've given us here at BetterUp. We understand that we have multiple steps in the process and cross-functional interviewers involved, and it is because we truly believe that this process allows our team and the candidate to really get a great sense of the culture and the opportunity of how collaborative our teams are with one another. However, we greatly value feedback and take it all into deep consideration as we continue to work to improve the efficacy of our process. Thank you again and wishing you all the best.

I was messaged by a recruiter on linkedin. The recruiter was very polite and asked some good questions, including some culture fit questions off the bat, which is not typical of a phone screening. The recruiter asked me to complete a job application and message him once it was complete. Within a business day I was emailed to set up an interview. The interview was... interesting. The interviewer was a little socially awkward and not the best interviewer. The questions asked weren't hard, but I didn't think the questions asked were representative of the job post. The job post was for a GRC senior manager, but the first question asked was in regards to coding skills. Coding wasn't mentioned on the job post, nor are GRC managers often coders. Those skill sets rarely intersect. After that, there were many questions in regards to DevOps and CI/CD. Again, there was nothing listed on the job post in regards to this, nor was it listed on my resume. All in all, I would say BetterUp needs to edit the job description to state they are looking for someone technical. Its not really fair to the applicant to have them spend hours on screening, applying, prepping and interviewing when a 15 minute review of the job post could have saved us both time. I interviewed about 10 days ago and haven't heard anything from the LinkedIn recruiter, nor have I received an automated rejection email. Another case of a recruiter reaching out to *me* and then ghosting. Might be a good thing though. It seems like their information security department is very small and immature. A work-life-balance red flag.

We are so sorry you did not have an ideal experience with us. One of our core philosophies in recruiting here at BetterUp is to ensure that we follow-up with every candidate that engages with us, regardless of whether or not we're advancing in the interview. There have been some internal changes on our team, and we take ownership over the results that it may have caused to your experience. Thank you for the feedback as we continue to work towards improving ourselves so that our candidates have clarity in all regards to the role and process with us.

      • Conversations (video calls due to the Covid situation ) with 6 different leaders including two meetings with the Hiring Manager and a final call with one of the founders. • Well-structured interview process with clear guidance on topics to be covered • Very organic conversations that evolved as the interviews progressed • One of the two interviews with the Hiring Manager was a case based (scenario shared 3 days in advance). I thoroughly enjoyed discussing the case • The conversation with one of the founders was insightful and quite interesting

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Apart from the case study, most of the conversations were primarily around applying technical concepts in a a very fast moving and demanding startup environment. Quite a bit of focus on cultural fit (understandable, given BetterUp's business model and product). Focus primarily on the tactical elements (how) more than concepts (why and what).
