I applied online and was contacted by HR a couple days later, then by the hiring manager. Each call was short and abrupt for a few questions and then they'd quickly hang up after I answered. It was a bizarre process and I felt they were rushed. I was told early on that this position was low paying and there would be no relocation package -- which was fine at the time since I was interested in the contract, The hiring manager emailed me for about 2 weeks before I even got an interview, and when we met over Zoom which consisted of a few technical questions (maybe 40 minutes). I got a poor impression because of the attitude, especially the weird reaction when I asked about work-life balance. The manager told me I'd hear from them after a week, but I received nothing. For the next month I was strung along with emails saying they hadn't made their decision yet until I got an offer from another company. Overall, extremely poor communication and strange impression of the company. It didn't feel like they wanted to be there nor didn't want to hire for the position.
