      Entretien

Formally known as Perseverance Recruiting, Atlas one is supposed to be a remote first business so essentially, you can work from anywhere in the world. I had 4 interviews with the Co-Founder / CPO, as well as three other people. The process was slow and took months. There were long periods without any communication from them. I was eventually offered the role and accepted but was told they needed references before they would send out the contract. I passed the reference details to the recruiter and was told they will get the contract to me that week. Another week and half went by and still no contract. I was then contacted by the recruiter to let me know that the two people who interviewed me had both left. At this point, they sent the contract through, but it had errors, so I requested changes to be made. Almost another week went by before the revised contract including with the correct salary details was sent I handed in my notice and was negotiating the start date. The co-founder assured me it was all fine and was willing to be flexible on the start date and if January didn't work, February will be fine, as long as it doesn’t go into March. I’m based in London and we were looking to relocate to another country. We run into some issues with the relo but with i was assurance that a revised start of Feb will be fine, I started shipping our things to our new location (myself, husband and child), gave the school notice, put my house up for sale, gave notices of my impending move to relevant services, etc The cofounder emailed to say she was sorry we were having issues with the relocation and that a new contract with the Feb start date will be sent by the recruiter. A week or so goes by and still no revised contract. Then I got an email from the recruiter to tell me that unfortunately they have had an internal promotion for the role and therefore the vacancy is no longer available. That everyone on their team enjoyed getting to know me over the past few months and they want to stress that this is not a reflection of my skills or suitability for the position. So much so that they encourage me to reapply if future positions open up. That they know this must be a disappointment and are genuinely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. I was dumbfounded! I had accepted this role in good faith, handed in my notice, sold my house, pulled my child out of school etc, and they were telling me they have had an internal promotion so the role was no longer available! I didn’t even get a phone call. That wouldn’t have made the mess any better but at the very least, a call to explain instead of sending an email would have gone some way to actually show they are genuinely sorry. After I responded to their email to strongly express my disappointment, the co-founder emailed and offered to have a call so I can ask any questions? No Thanks! Not if this is how they treat people. And they seriously thought it ok to say I should apply again in the future? Really? I think NOT! Buyer beware – STAY WELL CLEAR!
