      Entretien

Phone interview. Asked to introduce myself and state my experience and years working. RN 35 yrs in ER, PACU, ICU. Company is actually a main nationwide pharmacy that makes different compound topical pain creams made of different percentage combination narcotics, caine family, neurontin, ketamine. in addition to many others non-narcotic. Used for direct pain relief to site as it is absorbed through the skin, and has the benefit of being non-addictive related to no narcotics ingested or absorbed into bloodstream. As a PACU or recovery RN, I am very familiar with anesthesia and multiple narcotics for immediate IV administration and have a good understanding of the potency and half-life of the medications. Understand the need for new ways of giving pain relief without potential of addiction and have belief in the ability of absorption through the dermal tissue. Also have acquired many MD contacts over the years. Creams are good for 3rd to 5th day post op pain control after oral meds. Skin surface can not be open wounds. Creams effective for arthritis, fibromyalgia, sport injuries as muscle strain, back pain, even acne, and prevention of keyloid scarring. Depends on combination of different medications and percentage amounts. Instruction on sales were per phone conference once a week x 4 and then delivered material at home.No samples are given out and you receive 4 RX pads with suggested percentages of different drugs related to disease or injury process, plastics, etc. Also receive 4 folders with laminated visuals on instructions for use for patient information. Was hired immediately for nursing knowledge and others were hired for sales. Disadvantages for each type of background is obvious. Required research on sales processes for me. Decided to attend grad program to obtain business and sales expertise. Doing an online program for Masters in Business Communication, emphasis entrepreneurship as amount of sales efforts are up to you. The opportunity for making good money is there, as one gets $300 per RX sold and then additional for refills. Bought all supplies on my own, have had to make copies of the initial folders, business cards and made up separate new individual folders with suggestions for medication compounds per MD specialty. Quite a bit of work. Ran into issues with MD's not sure of percentages and wanting more detailed RX choices. Requested and none were supplied. MD;s have to write their own RX if it includes narcotics, etc. and they are hesitant to do that. Therefore, I decided to obtain a background in sales through schooling and that has taken most of my time. Getting back to the business and giving it a try again. No benefits and you're on your own, however total flexibility as i have the entire state of Colorado. Need to get established market set up in Denver initially and things have been on the back burner. There is also competition out there as several companies have joined in on the idea of topical pain creams. Need a better organized company to give direction in the beginning. Giving it another effort and then looking for paid pharmaceutical companies. Makes life much easier with samples of known medications. If your a nurse with a sales background you have it made. Otherwise, it depends on what you put into it on your own. Hiring process was easy.
