      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez Arts Council England (Manchester, Angleterre) en juil. 2025

      Entretien

I was disappointed with the interview. First of all, the members of the panel were not formally introduced and I didn't get a chance to introduce myself either. This opportunity would have been hugely beneficial for both myself and the panel, not only to break the ice but also broaden out what I already submitted in my application. Secondly, the questions asked did not seem to give me enough of an opportunity to demonstrate the specific key skills that are required for the role. Thirdly, 45 minutes was not enough time for the panel to ask the questions and for the candidate to do the same and ergo get a clearer understanding of the role and the organisation culture. Fourth, although I appreciate the panel sending out the questions prior to the interview, half an hour is not enough time when candidates are also juggling other work and personal commitments. Overall, the role itself appears to lack the variety, the responsibility and challenge that I need at this point in my career. The interview only re-enforced this impression and it's unlikely that I will apply for roles with the Arts Council in the future due to this experience.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

What would you like to achieve in the first 6 months in the role? This role will require reviewing grant applications for time limited projects. What indicators might suggest that the project is at risk of not being delivered as planned? How would you assess financial risk, and what mitigations would you put in place for risks identified? Project Grant Assessment team will have to manage multiple deadlines against several competing priorities. Can you give us an example where you have had to manage deadlines – how did you organise and manage your workload? Tell us about a time you had to support or deliver something at work that you didn't personally believe in. How did you handle the situation, and what was the outcome? Can you tell us why you feel it is important that all applications to Arts Council funding programmes are considered fairly and consistently?
