Phone calls, video call and an interview. TA comms were inconsistent - often felt like they’d forgotten our previous discussions.
In the interview I was asked about my interests within the team. I gave an answer that sat within the team’s remit. The interviewer didn’t dig deeper or walk me through the other areas of focus, yet the feedback later cited ‘misalignment’ on this point — a conclusion reached without the conversation that could have tested it.
Despite the time invested, the rejection came as an automated email with no feedback. I only got an actual conversation after chasing for one.
Interviewers were fine on the day. The way it ended told me more about the place than the interview itself did.
